Millen – At her home in Earlville, Iowa, June 17th, 1893, of quick consumption, Mrs. W.I. Millen, aged 26 years and six months.

Nellie M. Sawyer was the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M.N. Sawyer, and was born in Meadville, Penn., Dec. 17, 1866, and moved with her parents to Sparta, Wis., the following spring, where they resided until the fall of 1884, when they moved to Estherville, Emmet county, Iowa, which place they have since made their home. She was married to Attorney W.I. Millen, of Delaware county, Iowa, at Huron, S.D. Dec. 25, 1885. In the spring of 1888 Mr. Millen took charge of the bank at Edgewood and in September of the same year moved to Earlville, where he has since been associated with his brother, H.G. Millen, in the banking business, and engaged in the practice of law.

About six weeks prior to her death, Mrs. Millen suffered from an attack of la grippe, followed by pneumonia, which rapidly developed into quick consumption. During her illness she maintained the sweet spirit of cheerfulness that characterized her life and won for her a host of friends who watched by her bedside and with loving hands administered to her wants during the closing scenes of the happy, hopeful life.

The funeral services were held in the M.E. Church, of which she was a member, on Monday afternoon, conducted by her pastor, Rev. P.J. Leonard, after which the remains were conveyed to Greeley for interment.

Mrs. Millan leaves a sorrowing father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. M.N. Sawyer, of Estherville; also a loving husband and two children, Ray, aged five years, and Lizzie, aged three months. A sister in Port Jervis, N.Y., and two brothers, Uzell Sawyer in Florida, and Howard Sawyer, of Estherville, are also left to mourn the death of one who was the light and joy of their childhood’s home.
