Old Settler Passes Away
Ole Brunswold [Brunsvold] Passes Away at the Home of His Son
Came to Emmet Co. in 1868
Was One of the Older Pioneer Residents of Emmet County, and Was 90 Year of Age
On Wednesday last occurred he death of Ole Bronswold [Brunsvold] at his home in Ellsworth township at the good old age of 80 years. Mr. Bronswold was one of the older settlers in the county, and neighbors were few and far between in the first years of residence here.

He passed through all the trials and vicissitudes of pioneer life, but he lived to see his old homestead become one of the most valuable farms in Emmet County.

He had been nearly blind for the past five years, and seldom left the old place which is now owned by his son, Alfred, with whom he has made his home for several years, except to go to church, or to visit with his daughter, who lived near him.

His obituary follows:
Ole A. Bronswold was born in Naes, Hallingdal, Norway, Nov. 29th, 1836. There he lived and grew to manhood and was united in marriage to Kari Lien in 1867. Shortly after their marriage they came to this country and lived a year in Filmore, County, Minn. They came to Emmet County in 1868, where they lived until their death. Mrs. Bronswold died April 19th, 1905. Since then Mr. Bronswold has had his home with his son, Alfred, who lives on the old homestead. Here he died on his 80th birthday, Nov. 29th, 1916. He leaves the following children: Mrs. Ben Nelson, who lives northeast of town; Mrs. A.A. Bronswold, who lives in Leeds, N.D., and Alfred Bronswold. A girl, Clara, has gone before. He also leaves the following sisters and brothers, Mrs. Lien, Mrs. Ole Myhre, Mrs. Opheim and Mr. S.A. Bronswold.

He was buried last Saturday in the Norwegian Cemetery, Rev. J.J. Akre officiating. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, December 6, 1916)
