“Doc” Stueland Dies Following Heart Attack
Alvin (Doc) Theodore Stueland, 51, died early today, March 27, 1972, at his home, 327 N. 12th St., after suffering a heart attack. He had been employed at the Estherville post office for 26 years and was acting assistant postmaster at the time of his death.

He was born Dec. 28, 1920, in Estherville, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Stueland. He received his education in the Estherville schools.

On July 20, 1953, he was married to Elizabeth Heckard at Jackson, Minn.

He served in the navy during World War II in the Pacific area and was a member of VFW. He was also a member of the Lutheran church.

He is survived by his wife, Bettie; four daughters, Marcia at home, Mrs. Roger Schaffer, Buffalo Center, Mrs. Roy Carlson, Minneapolis, and Mrs. Bob Tuttle, Estherville; two sons, Sid Stueland of St. Paul, and John Heckard Stueland, Estherville; 17 grandchildren and one great-grandson; two sisters, Mrs. Leslie Carey, Estherville, and Mrs. Oliva Mickelson, Fairmont; and one brother, Glenn.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Estherville Lutheran Church, the Rev. Stephen Engelstad officiating. Burial will be in Estherville Lutheran cemetery.

Friends may call any time on Tuesday at Fuhrman Funeral Home until noon Wednesday when the body will be taken to the church.
