Abraham Stueland, 83, Dies
Abraham (Abe) Stueland, 83, longtime resident of Estherville, died this morning at the Good Samaritan Home, apparently of a sudden heart attack. Mr. Stueland had risen as usual and dressed, then laid down on his bed, where he was found a few moments later.

Arrangements are pending at the Fuhrman Funeral home. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 2, 1966)

Final Rites on Tuesday
Funeral services for Abrahm Stueland, 82, who came to Estherville from Norway in 1900, are to be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Estherville Lutheran Church. A family service will be at 1:30 preceding the church service. Rev. Roy M. Hendrickson will officiate at the services and burial will be in the Estherville Lutheran Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Fuhrman Funeral Home until Tuesday at 11 a.m. when the body will be taken to the church to be in state until time of services.

Pallbearers are to be grandsons of Mr. Stueland, Richard Stueland, Wallace Stueland, Robert Mickelson and grandsons-in-law, Roger Schaefer and William Lahs.

Mr. Stueland died about 7:30 a.m. Saturday at the Good Samaritan Home, his death attributed to a heart attack.

The son of Tjeran and Elizabeth Stueland, he was born April 30, 1883, in Vinibygd, Norway. He received their [his] education there and in 1900 came to the United States and settled in Estherville.

After his marriage to Julia Aanonson, he worked in Estherville for the Rock Island Railway for a time and then farmed for eight years until he returned to Estherville. He again worked for the Rock Island until time of his retirement in 1945.

Mr. Stueland is survived by two sons, Glen of Herman, Minn. and Alvin of Estherville; two daughters, Mrs. L.C. (Alma) Carey of Estherville and Mrs. Oliva Mickelson of Fairmont; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Sofie Hendricksen of Oakland, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two brothers and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 4, 1966)
