Sterenborg Dies Sunday
Richard F. Sterenborg, 76, of Estherville died Sunday [September 20, 1964] evening at Holy Family Hospital from complications of advanced age.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at Estherville Lutheran Church with the Rev. Roy Hendrickson officiating.

Family services will begin at 1:30 p.m. followed by public services at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Estherville Lutheran cemetery. Friends may call at Reese funeral home after 1 p.m. today until noon on Tuesday when the body will be taken to the church to lie in state until time of services. The casket will not be opened following the service.

Mr. Sterenborg was born June 9, 1888 in Grundy Center, and at the age of 12 he came to Emmet county with his parents to live on a farm northeast of Estherville. He was married in June, 1913 to Helen Erickson at Estherville, and they farmed for several years northwest of town before moving to a farm near Spirit Lake. They lived there until their retirement seven years ago when they moved to Estherville. Mr. and Mrs. Sterenborg observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1963. He was a member of the Estherville Lutheran church.

Survivors include his wife, Helen; a son, Robert, of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. George (Pearl) Weible of Lynwood, Calif., Mrs. Max (Ellen) Finch of Southgate, Calif., and Mrs. James (Edna) Van Valkenberg of Estherville; two brothers, Albert and Fred of Estherville; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 21, 1964)
