Estherville – Services for Ewald Rosenua, 78, of Estherville, will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Estherville Lutheran Church with Pastors Kermit Rye and Michael Kroona officiating. Burial will be at the Estherville Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville. He died Saturday, April 29 at Holy Family Hospital.

He was born June 26, 1910 at Eventhal, Ukraine in Russia, the son of Gustav and Adolfine (Netzel) Rosenau. He attended school in the Ukraine. He worked as a carpenter in the Ukraine until 1945 when the family went to Austria. The family immigrated from Austria to the United States in 1952. He worked for Fagre Construction for a short time and then worked for Holy Family Hospital for 23 years before retiring in 1976. He was a member of Estherville Lutheran Church.

He married Lydia Arndt who died several years later. He then married Antonia Bittner in May of 1939. She died on Feb. 25, 1983.

Survivors include two sons, Emil of Estherville and Bill of Loveland, Colo. and four daughters, Mrs. Lee (Maria) Nauss of Mazeppa, Minn., Mrs. Lester (Adeline) Mortimore of Estherville, Irma Fraser of Estherville and Mrs. William (Margaret) Duncan of Alexandria.. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his two wives, four infant children, his parents and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 1, 1989)
