Estherville – Gerhard (Pete) Peterson, 58, Estherville, died Sunday [March 18, 1979] afternoon at Holy Family Hospital.

Services for Mr. Peterson will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Estherville Lutheran Church with the Rev. Stan Eyberg officiating. Interment will be in the Estherville Lutheran Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from noon Tuesday until 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, when the body will be taken to the church.

Mr. Peterson was born Aug. 18, 1920, in Estherville, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John B. Peterson. He received his education in rural Emmet County schools and was married to Fern Skow on Aug. 31, 1941, in Estherville.

Except for serving in World War II, Mr. Peterson lived his entire life in Emmet County. He was employed by Fagre Construction Company, Estherville, until being forced to retire about 10 years ago due to ill health. He was a member of the Estherville Lutheran Church and American Legion.

Mr. Peterson is survived by his wife, Fern, Estherville; one son, Gary Peterson, Estherville; two daughters, Mrs. John (Connie) Hattle, Armstrong, and Mrs. Ron (Kathy) Tangen, Estherville; three grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Chris (Mildred) Martinson, Estherville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 19, 1979)
