ESTHERVILLE - Funeral services for Florence Ness, 99, of Estherville will be held 2 p.m. Monday, March 26, 2012, at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville with Pastor Harold Heinzig officiating. Interment will be at Estherville Lutheran Cemetery.

She died Friday, March 23, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Society in Estherville.

Florence Clara (Anderson) Ness, the daughter of Julius and Emile (Sebold) Anderson, was born July 25, 1912, in Rollette, N.D.

As a child, Florence moved with her family to Iowa. She received her education in the Gruver school.

On Oct. 10, 1932, Florence was united in marriage to Gilbert Ness in Cylinder. The couple raised their family, lived and farmed in the Palo Alto and Emmet County areas. Florence was a homemaker. Gilbert died April 23, 1988. Due to declining health Florence has been a resident of Good Samaritan since 2003. Her sister, Mildred, has been her roommate. In past years in her leisure time, Florence loved gardening, traveling and needle work.

She was a member of the Lutheran faith.

Grateful for having shared Florence's life are her children, Marilyn Collentine and her husband John "Jack" of Cedar Rapids; Arlin E. Ness and his wife, Barb, of Anthem, Ariz.; Pastor David L. Ness and his wife, Diane, of Grand Rapids, Mich.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Mildred Anderson of Estherville; and also many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Florence in death were her husband; parents and sisters, Alva Sunde and Eunice Petersen. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 24, 2012)
