Mrs. Notsund Dies Here After Illness
Margit Notsund, 74, died at 2:05 p.m. yesterday at the Good Samaritan Home as a result of a stroke she suffered six weeks ago. She had been in failing health for the past five years.
Margit Magdalene Notsund was born July 12, 1890, in Norway, to Mr. and Mrs. Mons Runhovde. She received part of her education in Norway. She attended Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn.
She came to the United States in 1907 to live with her sister in Minneapolis.
She was married Oct. 30, 1925, to Christian Notsund at St. Cloud, Minn.
She taught in parochial schools following their marriage in Minneapolis until 1930. She and the Rev. Mr. Notsund moved to Belfield, N.D., until 1937. They then moved to Horace, N.D., until 1943, then to Lake Mills until 1958; and then to Milford until 1961 before coming to Estherville.
The Rev. Mr. Notsund has been visitation pastor of the Estherville Lutheran Church. He has also served as interim pastor in the Palestine, State Line, Graettinger and Armstrong Lutheran churches.
Mrs. Notsund was a member of the Estherville Lutheran church and was active in various church organizations.
She is survived by her husband, one sister, Mrs. Olaf Severtson of Luverne, Minn.; two half-brothers, John and Trygve Runhovde of California, and one half-sister, Mrs. Olaf Reinholz of California.
She was preceded in death by her parents and several brothers.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Estherville Lutheran church with Rev. Roy Hendrickson officiating. Burial will be in the Estherville Lutheran church cemetery.
Friends may call at Reese Funeral Home after 6 pm. Thursday until noon Saturday, when the body will be taken to the church. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 5, 1965)
