Oscar B. Myhre, Jr.
Spirit Lake – Services for Oscar B. Myhre, Jr., 65, formerly of Estherville, will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Estherville with Pastor Paul Wiegman officiating. Interment will be in Estherville Lutheran Cemetery with military graveside service by the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion posts. He died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1988 at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital, Spirit Lake. Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home of Estherville is in charge of arrangements.

He was born Sept. 7, 1922 at Estherville, the son of Oscar B. Myhre, Sr. and Agnes Kittleson Myhre. He was a 1940 graduate of Estherville High school and a 1942 graduate of Estherville Junior College. On Nov. 18, 1956 he was united in marriage with Jean Boone at Estherville. He lived and farmed southwest of Estherville until retiring in 1982. The couple has lived in Spirit Lake since retirement.

Myhre was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church; VFW; DAV; Order of the Purple Heart; past president of the Estherville School Board; Township Trustee; and Sons of Norway. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in Europe during World War Two.

He is survived by his wife Jean of Spirit Lake; one daughter, LeAnn Myhre, Spirit Lake and David of Davenport; two brothers and one sister: Stanley and Marvin Myhre and Mrs. Rod (Norma) Tredway, all of Estherville.

He was preceded in death by his parents. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 10, 1988)
