Mrs. H. Myhre dies; rites Friday
Mrs. Hattie Tobia Myhre, 79, Estherville, died at her home at 5 p.m. Tuesday [May 18, 1971] from a heart attack.
She was born May 18, 1892, at Estherville to Mr. and Mrs. Henry O. Johnson. She attended rural Emmet County schools and a Des Moines business school.
She was married Dec. 4, 1912, to Olaf Myhre at Estherville. She spent most of her life in Emmet County. For a short time after attending the Des Moines business school, and prior to her marriage, she was employed at the State Capitol at Des Moines.
Following their marriage, they farmed northeast of Estherville until the death of Mr. Myhre in 1962. She moved to Estherville in 1963.
She was a member of the Brown Creek Club for many years and a member of the Estherville Lutheran Church. She was active in the women’s organizations of the church and for a number of years was church historian.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Lester (Marion) Kaltvedt, rural Estherville; six grandchildren, Mrs. James Valen, Jean [Gene] Kaltvedt and Larry Kaltvedt, San Francisco, Calif.; Mrs. Kerry Kaufman, Yankton, S.D.; Holly Kaltvedt and Mrs. Brian Thiel, Estherville; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Tillie Aalborg, Estherville; and three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Celia Johnson, Mrs. Oscar Myhre and Mrs. H.R. Portmann, all of Estherville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three brothers and seven sisters.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Estherville Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Estherville Lutheran Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Reese-Henry Funeral Home, Estherville, after 10 a.m. Thursday until noon on Friday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 19, 1971)
