Olaf Myhre Dies at 73; Rites Set
Olaf Myhre, 73, lifetime resident of Emmet county, died last night at Holy Family Hospital of a cerebral hemorrhage. He had been in poor health for the past six months.

Mr. Myhre, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ole Myhre, was born July 31, 1888, on a farm northeast of Estherville where he lived until the time of his death. He received his education in the rural schools of Emmet county.

Mr. Myhre was married on Dec. 4, 1912 to Hattie Johnson at the Johnson farm north of Estherville. He farmed the family farm until his retirement in 1956 and he and Mrs. Myhre continued to make their home there.

A lifetime member of the Estherville Lutheran Church, Mr. Myhre served for many years on the cemetery board of the church. He was also a director for many years of the Emmetsburg branch of the Federal Farm Loan Co.

Survivors include his widow, one daughter, Mrs. Lester (Marian) Kaltvedt of Estherville and six grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother, Oscar of Estherville; and two sisters, Mrs. W.R. Anderson and Mrs. H.R. Portmann, both of Estherville. His parents, five brother and two sisters preceded him in death.

Family funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Sternborg-Reese Funeral Home with the Rev. L.A. Mathre in charge. Public services will be at 1:30 p.m. at Estherville Lutheran Church with the Rev. Roy Hendrickson officiating.

Friends may call at Sternborg-Reese from Tuesday morning to Wednesday noon. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 29, 1962)
