S.D. Munson Services Set on Thursday
Funeral services for Severt Munson, who died Monday [July 5, 1965] at 8:10 a.m. in St. Luke’s Hospital, at Aberdeen, S.D., are to be Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Estherville Lutheran Church, Rev. Roy M. Hendrickson officiating. Burial will be in the Estherville Lutheran Cemetery.

Friends may call at Fuhrman Funeral Home any time Wednesday until Thursday noon at which time the body will be taken to the church. There friends may call until time of the funeral service.

Mr. Munson entered St. Luke Hospital Thursday for eye surgery that was performed on Friday. Monday morning he suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and died shortly afterward.

Severt D. Munson, the son of Daniel and Sarah Munson, was born Feb. 4, 1881 in Ridgeway, Iowa. At the age of six months, his parents moved to Dickinson County and he attended the rural schools there. In 1901, he went to Regan, N.D.

Severt D. Munson and Irene Danielson were married Dec. 10, 1914, at Bismarck, N.D. They farmed there until 1923 when they returned to Dickinson County and operated his parent’s farm north of Superior. In 1949 Mr. and Mrs. Munson moved to Estherville.

Mr. Munson was a trustee of State Line Lutheran Church at Petersburg and a devoted member of the church.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Sidney of Millbank, S.D., Irvin of Estherville; one daughter, Mrs. William (Inez) Bockman of rural Estherville; and 18 grandchildren.

Mr. Munson was the last surviving one of 12 brothers and sisters of his family. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 6, 1965)
