Belle Matre
Estherville – Funeral services for Mrs. Belle (Hagen [Heggen]) Matre, 92, of Estherville, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Estherville Lutheran Church with burial in the Church cemetery. The Rev. Stan Eyberg will officiate with Henry and Olson Funeral Home of Estherville in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Matre died Monday [December 28, 1981] afternoon at the Good Samaritan Home in Estherville.

Friends may call after 2 pm. Wednesday at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Matre was born May 3, 1889, the daughter of Nels and Anna (Carlson) Hagen, in Dolliver. She was educated in the rural Emmet County schools. On Mar. 4, 1914, she married Oscar Matre in Dolliver and the couple moved to North Dakota where they farmed for two years. The couple returned to Estherville in 1920 where she lived until her death.

Mrs. Matre was a member of the Estherville Lutheran Church. She is survived by two sons, Abner of Rockford, Ill. and James of Estherville, one daughter, Mrs. Mary Ann Pomerenke of Okabena, Minn.; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Sylvia Hanson of Estherville.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, two brothers and three sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 29, 1981)
