Death Takes Joseph Amos Johnson, 65
Joseph Amos Johnson, 64, died at his home Saturday [May 13, 1967]at 11:35 p.m. after having been ill for seven years.

He was born Dec. 30, 1902, at Rose Grove, Hamilton County, Iowa, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Johnson. He received his education at Lakefield, Minn.

He was married Feb. 20, 1932, to Anne Kilen at Lakefield and they moved to Estherville in 1950. They had farmed in Jackson County, Minn., for 17 years before coming here. Mr. Johnson worked at the Joyce Lumber Co., for K and M Sales, Concrete Products Company, and for the Pan-O-Gold Bakery.

He served on the school board in Jackson County. He was a member of the Estherville Lutheran Church.

Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. William A. (Joanne) Watson, Estherville, and Mrs. Richard L. (Elizabeth) Luhman of Faribault, Minn., and one son, David A. Johnson of Clinton, and six grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. D.S. Thompson, Windom, Minn.; and three brothers, Arthur of Estherville; Lawrence of Fairmont, and Harris of Faribault.

Preceding him in death were his parents, one sister and one brother.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Estherville Lutheran Church, the Rev. Roy M. Hendrickson officiating. Burial will be in Estherville Lutheran Cemetery.

Friends may call at Fuhrman Funeral Home anytime Tuesday and until 11 a.m. Wednesday when the body will be taken to the church. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 15, 1967)
