Spirit Lake – Funeral services for Lester S. Kaltvedt, 87, of Okoboji will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 18 at Grace Lutheran Church in Spirit Lake. Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. on Thursday, June 17 at Turner Funeral Home in Spirit Lake with family present from 4-8 p.m. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 16, 2004)

June 24, 1916 – June 14, 2004
Services were held June 18 at Grace Lutheran Church in Spirit Lake for Lester Kaltvedt, 87, who passed away on June 14 at his home in Okoboji. Rev. David Bergstrom officiated.

Lester S. Kaltvedt was born June 24, 1916 in Graettinger, the son of levi and Sadie Brekke Kaltvedt.

He married Marion Myhre on March 10, 1940, in Estherville. They were blessed with six children. Lester farmed until 1975. After retiring they moved to Okoboji in 1976. He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Spirit Lake, the Elks Club, the Farm Bureau and the Golden Kiwanis.

Lester was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Lyle, Art, Orvis, Dale and Willis; two great grandchildren, Stephen Dalton and Katie Kaufman.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 64 years, Marion; daughters, Judy and Jim Valen of Spirit Lake, Karen and Sam Cannon of Dayton, Ohio, Holly and Albert Sherling of Estherville, Robin and Rush Wierman of Phoenix; sons Gene and Kay Kaltvedt of Estherville, Larry Kaltvedt of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; grandchildren, Jeff Valen (Mieca), Jarrett Valen (Traci), Jennifer Dalton (Sean), Brett Kaltvedt (Tracy), B’ann Jones (Chris), Otis Kaltvedt, Kyle Kaufman (Chasity), Kristi Van Hauen (Terry), and Camy Dillard (Ron); 17 great-grandchildren; brothers, Harold of Rockford, Ill. and Leon of Alexandria, Minn.

Interment will be at Estherville Lutheran Cemetery in Estherville. Turner Funeral Home of Spirit Lake was in charge of arrangements. (Dickinson County News, Spirit Lake, IA, June 30, 2004)
