Myrtle Oleana Stenseth Hanson 1909-1972

Funeral to be Saturday for Mrs. Hanson
Mrs. Joseph ( Myrtle [Myrtle Oleana]) Hanson, 62, died at 6:10 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, 1972, at Holy Family Hospital after an illness of a year and a half.

She was born Sept. 7, 1909, at Deering, N.D., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lars Stenseth.

She received her education in Deering schools and attended Minot Teachers College. She received a degree from Drake University.

She married Joseph Hanson June 7, 1938, at Fergus Falls, Minn. After their marriage they lived in Clarkfield, Minn., until 1940 when they moved to Fergus Falls where they lived until 1950 when they moved to Estherville. She taught school in Hills and Fergus Falls, Minn., and for the past 20 years in the Halfa and Armstrong schools.

Mrs. Hanson was a member of Estherville Lutheran Church and was active in women’s organizations of the church.

Surviving are her husband, Joseph; two daughters, Mrs. Darryl (Carolyn) Hansen, Dolliver, and Mrs. Charles (Marilyn) Schroeck of Armstrong; two grandchildren; two brothers, Arnold Stenseth, Denver, Colo., and Lester Stenseth, Fairbanks, Alaska; three sisters, Mrs. Charnel Hansen, Minot, N.D., Mrs. Kenneth Muffat, Rapid City, S.D., and Mrs. Robert Boyce, Tulsa, Okla.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter [Gloria] and a sister.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Estherville Lutheran Church, the Rev. Stephen Engelstad and the Rev. Oscar Engebretson officiating.

Burial will be in Estherville Lutheran cemetery.

Friends may call at Reese-Henry Funeral Home in Estherville after 7 p.m. Thursday until time of the funeral. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 23, 1972)
