Joseph Peder Hanson, 78, Estherville, died Saturday [August 25, 1979] at Holy Family Hospital, Estherville.

Services for Mr. Hanson will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Estherville Lutheran Church with the Rev. Stan Eyberg officiating. Interment will be in Estherville Lutheran Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home, Estherville, after 3 p.m. Tuesday until 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, and at the church prior to services.

The son of Mr. and Mrs. Peder R. Hanson, he was born July 21, 1901, at Benson, Minn. He attended LBI College, Grand Forks, N.D., and was married to Myrtle Stenseth on June 7, 1938, at Fergas Falls, Minn.

The couple lived at Clarkfield and Fergus Falls, Minn., until moving to Estherville in 1951, where Mr. Hanson was a salesman until 1962 and later employed as a custodian for the Estherville Community Schools until retiring in 1966.

He was a member of the Estherville Lutheran Church and sang with the Estherville Men’s Chorus.

Mr. Hanson is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Marilyn) Schroeck, Sanborn, and Mrs. Darryl (Carolyn) Hansen, Estherville; six grandchildren; two brothers, Arthur Hanson, Fergus Falls, Minn., and Philip Hanson, Minneapolis, Minn.; and one sister, Mrs. Rikka Klyve, Estherville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one daughter [Gloria] and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 27, 1979)
