Laurentia Handeland
Estherville – Services for Laurentia Handeland, 67, will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Estherville Lutheran Church with Pastor Arlyn Norris and Pastor Jane Johnston officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.

She was born Aug. 23, 1931 in Story City, daughter of Lawrence and Lila (Hansen) Lund. She attended school at Story City graduating from high school there in 1949. Aug. 27, 1949 she married Lester K. Handeland at Story City. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in Radcliffe, then Omaha, Neb. In 1958 they moved to Spencer. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. The family moved to Estherville in 1962. She worked at Holy Family Hospital and was a nurse’s aide, also a ward clerk. She retired in 1993 after 26 years. She was a member of the Estherville Lutheran Church and ELCW.

Survivors include sons Mark and David Handeland of Estherville; daughters: Mrs. Ken (Mary) Kotewa, Fairmont, Minn., daughter Kathy Handeland and Mrs. Tracy (Ann) Kuiper both of Spencer; nine grandchildren; brother: Donald Lund and wife Muriel, Story City and Harvey and wife Bev, Western Springs, Ill.; sisters: Mrs. Everett (Margaret) Reinertson, Mrs. Vernon (Marjorie) Ullestad, both of Story City; sisters-in-law: Mrs. Harry Gandrup, Nevada, Ia., Elsie Ellingson, Nevada, nieces and nephews.
