Ernest Hanson
Estherville – Services for Ernest S. Hanson, 83, will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Estherville Lutheran Church with Pastors Kermit Rye and Norman Omodt officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. He died Thursday, July 9, 1987 at Holy Family Hospital.

Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home of Estherville is in charge of arrangements.

He was born March 14, 1904 in Estherville, the son of John and Martha (Larson) Hanson. He attended Estherville Schools. On March 3, 1928 he was united in marriage with Lillian Kinnard in Estherville. The couple farmed in the Estherville area until 1948 when he was employed at Kinnard’s Dairy. He later worked at Rohlin Construction Co. and retired in 1963. He was a member of the Estherville Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, Lillian; six daughters: Mrs. Leland (Doris) Alig, Mrs. Merle (Mary Jane) Johnson, Mrs. Chris (Coleen) Blass of Estherville; Mrs. Jack (Betty) Platter, Mesa, Ariz.; Mrs. Clyde (Janice) Hall, Richland Hills, Tex. and Mrs. Gene (Carolyn) Trosine, Jackson, Minn.; one son John Hanson, Sergeant Bluffs; 32 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Lawrence and Melvin Hanson, Estherville; three sisters: Mrs. Ed (Leora) Anderson and Tilla Hanson, Estherville and Mrs. Stan (Gen) Richey, Manly.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson; one sister and three brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 11, 1987)
