Estherville – Services for Alice E. Grinde, 98, of Estherville will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Estherville Lutheran Church with Pastors Arlyn Norris and Jane Johnston officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She was born Nov. 13, 1897 at Crystal Lake, the daughter of Swen and Rachel (Orwick [Orvick?]) Rogeness. She attended rural Hancock County school. On Oct. 20, 1924 she married Ragnvald Grinde at her parents’ farm home. She helped her parents of the farm until she moved to Estherville in the early 1920s. She was a housekeeper for Dr. and Mrs. J.M. Fredericksen until returning to Crystal Lake. After marriage the couple moved to Estherville and she lived in the family home at 514 S. 8th St. for 66 years. She has been a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in Estherville since Sept. 13, 1990.

She was a member of the Estherville Lutheran Church, ELCW and the Elizabeth Circle.

Survivors include sons Lloyd of Richfield, Minn., and Ray of Roseville, Minn.; daughters: Mrs. Harlan (Shirley) Widholm of Minneapolis, Mrs. Sheldon (Vera) Reed of Edina, Minn., and Mrs. Darrel (Gloria) Larson, of Marion; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother Sanford Rogeness, sisters Jennette Rogeness and Lila Rogeness all of Crystal Lake.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband who died Sept. 23, 1983; one sister and three brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 5, 1996)
