Estherville – Services for Roy (Ragnvald Larsen) Grinde, 90, Estherville, were held Monday morning at the Estherville Lutheran Church with Pastor Stan Eyberg officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Henry and Olson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Grinde died Friday, Sept. 23, 1983 at the Holy Family Hospital.

Grinde was born May 6, 1893 at Grinde Fjord, Norway, the son of Lars and Kristiane (Olsen) Grinde. He attended grade school in Norway. On Oct. 20, 1924 he was united in marriage with Alice Rogeness at Crystal Lake, Iowa. He was employed on the Rock Island Railroad from 1913 to 1952 as a carpenter in the Bridge and Building Department.

He was a member of the Estherville Lutheran Church and the American Legion. Grinde was a veteran of World War One.

Survivors include his wife, Alice; two sons, Lloyd Grinde, Richfield, Minn. and Ray Grinde, St. Paul, Minn.; three daughters: Mrs. Harlan (Shirley) Widholm, Minneapolis, Minn., Mrs. Sheldon (Vera) Reed, Edina, Minn. and Mrs. Darrel (Gloria) Larsen, Marion; ten grandchildren; one brother, Gunvald Grinde, Norway; two sisters: Olga Grinde and Singe Sovik, Norway.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lars and Ole; and two sisters: Amanda and Augusta. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 26, 1983)
