Estherville – Services for Waldemar C. Fransdal, 82, of Estherville will be held Friday, February 4, 1994 at the Estherville Lutheran Church, beginning at 10:30 a.m. with Pastors Kermit Rye and Arlyn Norris officiating. Interment will be at the Estherville Lutheran Cemetery. He died February 1, 1994 at his home in Estherville.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.
He was born on November 6, 1911 in Rake, the son of Lars O. and Johanna (Stokkebo) Fransdal. He attended the Estherville schools and graduated from Estherville High School in 1929. On December 23, 1935, he was united in marriage to Geneva Marie Haugen in Estherville.
After graduating from high school, he was employed as a bridge and building helper. Later he became a fireman on the pile driver for the C.R.I. & P. Railroad. In 1943, he became a brakeman for the company. On January 26, 1970, he was injured on the job. He was disabled and retired from the railroad. He was a member of the Estherville Lutheran Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Geneva Fransdal of Estherville; three sons, Merrill Fransdale of Iowa, John Fransdal of California and Wayne Fransdal of Minnesota; four daughters, Mrs. Gerald (Joanne) Gibson of Iowa, Mrs. Alan (Susan) Brubaker of Washington, Mrs. Edward (Elaine) Jensen of Oregon and Mrs. Keith (Betty) Heidecker of Alabama; one brother, Norman Fransdal of Estherville; two sisters, Joyce Olson of Estherville and Mrs. Vernon (Lois) Tweedt of Plano, Ill.; 19 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant daughter. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 2, 1994)
