Estherville – Funeral services for Lelend Clymer, 66, of Estherville will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 7 at Estherville Lutheran Church with Pastor Ray Miller officiating. Military graveside rites by Iowa Army National Guard Batter C1-194th Field Artillery will be held at Estherville Lutheran Cemetery, Estherville. He died Monday, Aug. 4 at his home in Estherville.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Henry-Olson—Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville.

Leland Eugene Clymer, the son of LeRoy and Josephine (Ellis) Clymer, was born August 17, 1936 in Fonda, Iowa.

He received his education in Fonda, Iowa, schools and graduated from Fonda High School in 1955. After graduation from high school Lee served in United States Army and later the Iowa Army National Guard.

On May 7, 1966, he was united in marriage to Janice Kay Bergeson in Estherville. Lee graduated from Sioux City Barber College in 1969. He was employed as a barber in Osage, Fort Dodge and Schaller, Iowa. Later he worked for the Sac County Highway Department. The family moved to Estherville where Lee worked full time for the Iowa Army National Guard BTRY C Unit. After his retirement he drove school bus for the Graettinger, Spirit Lake, Estherville and Forest Ridge school systems.

Lee especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. For hobbies he enjoyed camping, riding his scooter, working on his classic car and having coffee at McDonald’s with all of his friends.

He was a member of Estherville Lutheran Church; American Legion Post 91 and AMVETS Post 3391.

Lee is survived by his wife, Janice of Estherville; two sons, David Clymer and his wife, Brenda of Estherville; Doug Clymer and his wife, Kris of Kasson, Minn.; three grandchildren, Colton and Carter of Estherville; Megan of Kasson, Minn.; brother, Sam Simpson and his wife, Alberta of Fort Dodge; two sisters, Ruth Miller of Storm Lake; Rita Knight of Storm Lake; and sister-in-law, Murial Clymer of Gower, Mo., and special furry friend, Frisco.

He has been preceded in death by parents; four brothers and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 6, 2003)
