Carlson Rites Set Friday
Carl Johan Carlson, 81, Estherville, died Wednesday morning, June 27, 1973, at Holy Family Hospital, Estherville, of complications of advanced age.

Funeral services have been set for 2:30 p.m. Friday at Estherville Lutheran Church with the Rev. Stan Eyberg officiating. Interment will be in Estherville Lutheran Cemetery.

Mr. Carlson was born Nov. 24, 1891, in Vikedal, Norway, to Mr. and Mrs. Knut Carlson. He was educated in Norway and came to the Ceylon area when he was 15 to make his home with an uncle, Carl Carlson.

On April 22, 1920, Mr. Carlson was married to Nettie Wood in Estherville. He owned and operated a restaurant in Armstrong for a number of years, was a bread salesman for the Wilson Bakery, Estherville, and also did carpenter work. For the last 20 years, he was a salesman for the Rawleigh Co. He made his home in Estherville for 45 years and was a member of the Estherville Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, Nettie, Estherville; one daughter, Mrs. Roy (Chloris) Stoll, Bondurant; one granddaughter, Mrs. Kerry Passick, Bondurant; one grandson, Carelton Stoll, Bondurant; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Nella Ihle, Slater, and Mrs. Lewis Malmin of Des Moines.

Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother and two sisters.

Friends may call at Reese-Henry Funeral Home, Estherville, until noon Friday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 28, 1973)
