Woman Dies After Attack
Mrs. Sophia Anderson, 89, long-time Emmet County resident, died at 7 p.m. yesterday at Holy Family Hospital as a result of a heart attack.

Mrs. Sophia Anderson was born Sept. 29, 1875, in Hadeland, Norway. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Nelson. She came to the United States and moved to near Superior when she was nine years old.

She received her education in Norway and rural Superior schools. She was confirmed in the Estherville Lutheran church in 1891.

She was married Nov. 14, 1896 to Albert Anderson in Estherville. They farmed near Estherville until 1957 when Mr. Anderson died.

Since 1961 Mrs. Anderson has lived in the home of her son, Daniel, of Estherville.

She is survived by two sons, Clarence O. and Daniel W. of Estherville; four daughters, Mrs. Harley (Hilda) Harris of Nevis, Minn.; Mrs. Arthur (Nellie) Canfield of Muscatine; Mrs. Gerald (Alma) Reed of Columbus Junction and Mrs. Fred (Elsie) Gabel of Mason City; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs. Peter Anders of Minneapolis; Mrs. Sol Silverman of Anchorage, Alaska; and Olga Nelson of Fort Dodge.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and one daughter.

Family services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Estherville Lutheran Church. Public funeral services will be at 2 p.m. with Rev. Roy Hendrickson officiating. Burial will be in the Estherville Lutheran Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Reese Funeral Home after 10 a.m. Thursday until noon on Friday when the body will be taken to the church. The casket will not be opened after the service. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 12, 1965)
