Graettinger – Services for Jerry Zitterich, 45, of Graettinger, who passed away Thursday at University Hospital in Iowa City, were held today at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Graettinger with the Rev. Julie Poore-Christiansen and Father Paul Kelly officiating. Military graveside services were performed by the Graettinger American Legion at the interment in Oak Hill Cemetery.Jerry L. Zitterich was born March 12, 1943 to Jake and Elise Mae (Huntley) Zitterich in Graettinger. He graduated from Graettinger High School in 1961 and joined the United States Army that same year. After serving in both France and Germany in the transport divisions, he was discharged in 1964 and returned to Graettinger and began farming. On December 27, 1969 he married Shirley Burkard at St. Killian, Minn. Mr. Zitterich was a member of the United Methodist Church of Graettinger and of American Legion Post 162 of Graettinger.
Mr. Zitterich is survived by his wife Shirley of Graettinger; a brother Robert of Graettinger; two sisters: Mrs. Jerry (LaDon) Fitzpatrick of Spencer and Mrs. Lowell (Sally) Nyborg of Ruthven; and eleven nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 12, 1988)
