Lucious M. Tone Dead
Lucious M. Tone died at his home on North Seventh street early Monday morning after a prolonged illness, aged 77 years 8 months and 11 days.

Deceased was born in Vermont April 28, 1834. He moved to Ohio in 1843 and then to Wisconsin in 1852. He was married in 1868 to Emily Kessler and moved to West Clinton, Iowa in 1869 and to Spirit Lake in 1876 and resided there and in Estherville at different periods since. To this union eight children were born, six of whom are now living. William L. of this city; Laura Wells, of Canada; Mrs. C.F. Bemis of Minneapolis; Charles of Sioux Falls; Jesse of Bermidji, Minn.; and Mrs. Nellie Whipkey, of Sheridan, Wyoming. He is also survived by his wife. Only Wm. and Charles and the aged mother were able to be present at the funeral which was held at the house Tuesday afternoon at two o’clock, Rev. J.D. Vannoy conducting the service and the remains interred in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Tone was a kind hearted old gentleman. One of his favorite past times was fishing in Spirit Lake. He was an expert angler and always knew where to go to find the largest and best pike and bass. Until about two years ago he put in a great deal of his time in the summer at Spirit Lake fishing and when “Dad” Tone went out “for a fish” no one was ever disappointed in the results.
