Long-time Resident of Area Dies
Will Watson, 84, long-time resident of this community, died at 9 o’clock last night at the Watson home at 827 North Eighth. Mr. Watson had been in failing health and bedfast for the past year.

Born Aug. 9, 1871 in Carroll county, Illinois, Mr. Watson married Ethel Gleason Feb. 16, 1898. Mr. and Mrs. Watson moved to the Estherville vicinity in 1911 and farmed until 1918 at which time Mr. Watson retired and the Watsons moved to their home here in the city.

Survivors in addition to his wife are two daughters, Josie Watson of Des Moines and Mrs. Maurice (Joy) Burrell of Estherville; one brother, Garfield Watson of Savanna, Ill., and two nephews who had made their home with the Watsons, Lee and Charles Jones, both of Estherville.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Sternborg’s chapel, the Rev. Harrison G. Dawes officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Sternborg Funeral Home Friday until time of services Saturday afternoon. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 1, 1956)
