Gust Thorn Dies at 68
Gust [Gustav] Arthur Thorn, 68, of Estherville, died at 3 p.m. Saturday [August 7, 1965] at University Hospitals at Iowa City. Death was the result of a heart condition. Mr. Thorn had been in failing health for two years.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Reese Funeral Home, Rev. Roy Hendrickson officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 9 a.m. Tuesday until time of services.

Mr. Thorn was born Sept. 7, 1896, at Grangesberg, Sweden. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Carl Thorn. He received his education in Sweden and came to the United States when he was 19 years old.

Mr. Thorn moved to the Estherville area in 1942 after farming near Emmetsburg and working for the Graettinger Block and Tile Co. He retired from his job at John Morrell Co. several years ago.

He married Mrs. Caroline [Caroline Reinboldt] Torrence in August, 1948.

He is survived by his wife; two step-sons, Robert Torrence of Red Oak and Sam Torrence of Estherville; one step-daughter, Mrs. Irene Kleven of Minneapolis, Minn.; and three sisters, Mrs. Hilman Bangston of Grangesberg, Sweden, and Mrs. Marie Dietrich and Mrs. Hannah Ross, both of San Leandro, Calif.
