Mrs. William J. Tims Dies; Funeral Set
Mrs. William J. Tims, 65, well known Estherville resident, died shortly after noon yesterday at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. W.B. Mickelson. Mrs. Tims had been in poor health for some time due to a heart condition.

Margaret Cook was born May 2, 1894 at Cushing, Minn., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Orrin Cook. She received her education in the Parkersburg and Mason City schools.

On May 3, 1910 she was married to William John Tims at the Methodist parsonage in Mason City. Mr. and Mrs. Tims moved to Estherville in 1925 after purchasing the Estherville Greenhouse which they operated for 28 years before selling out to their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Mickelson. The next several years Mr. and Mrs. Tims lived in Fairmont but returned here a few years ago. Mr. Tims died June 28, 1958.

Mrs. Tims was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Mickelson; a son, Robert Tims, Palo Alto, Cal., and four grandchildren, Mrs. John R. Maytum, Spirit Lake, Noel Jean and Kay Mickelson and Connie Jo Tims, Palo Alto, Cal.

Also surviving are her father, Orrin Cook, Parkersburg; three sisters, Mrs. Harry Roberts, Mason City; Mrs. Ida Chapman, Milton, Wis.; Mrs. John Lohs, Waterloo; and two brothers, C. Fay Cook of Waterloo and Kenneth L. Cook, Parkersburg.

Mrs. Tims was preceded in death by her husband, her mother and one brother, Albert Cook.

Funeral services are to be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Sandin-Fuhrman Funeral Home, the Rev. James K. Lyon officiating. Burial is to be in Oak Hill cemetery. Friends may call at Sandin-Fuhrman’s until time of the services.

Pallbearers are to be Dr. N.R. Ellsworth, John Lyman, C.J. Matieson, Dr. C.R. Kitchen, Arnold Anliker and Virgil Nelson of Spirit Lake. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 18, 1959)
