Estherville – Services for Robert Dean Shryock, 41, will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home in Estherville with Pastor Fred Boyce officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. He died Monday, Aug. 19, 1985 at Mercy Hospital, Coon Rapids, Minn.

Friends may call after 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Shryock was born Oct. 14, 1943 at Estherville, the son of Norris and Gladys (Harding) Shryock. He attended the Ringsted School. On Dec. 3, 1961 he was united in marriage with Dawn Sharar at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ringsted. They moved to Estherville in 1962 where he worked as a heavy machine operator all his life. He was employed by Barbarrossa & Sons Construction Co. of Osseo, Minn. at the time of his death. He was a well-known veteran race car driver throughout the Midwest. He drove NASCAR late model and NDRA late model cars. He was a member of the Iowa National Guard in Estherville in 1962.

Survivors include his wife Dawn, Estherville; his mother, Mrs. Gladys Shryock, Estherville; one son Kelly, Estherville; two daughters Mrs. Jim (Lori) Homan, Omaha, Neb. and Misty Shryock, Estherville; three brothers, Norman, Estherville; Kenneth, Graettinger and Raulin, Oblong, Ill.; five sisters, Mrs. Dean (Helen) Walker, Wallingford; Mrs. Curtis (Virginia) Tonderum, Armstrong; Mrs. Roger (Marty) Peterson, Greely, Colo.; Mrs. Ordean (Opal) Kabrick, Bancroft and Mrs. Bill (Wanda) Finnestad, Ringsted.
