James A. Salisbury Passes Away
The shadow of death passed over the vicinity Tuesday of last week when Jim Salisbury was called to his last reward. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon in the M.E. church with the Rev. Fred Whitford officiated. The pallbearers were Perry DeWitt, Henry Eisler, Chas. Krebs, Geo. Helmke, Henry Harms and Ernest Frieden. Interment was made in the West Bend cemetery.

James Andrew Salisbury was born in Kent, Ill., Jan. 22, 1866, and died at the home of his daughter, Ms. Louis Krueg near West Bend, Aug. 14, 1933 [1934]. When one year of age the family moved to Pocahontas county, Iowa, where he lived until 22 years of age. He then came to Palo Alto county. He was united in marriage to Martha Mitchelltree on April 20, 1888. To this union twelve children were born. Three preceded him in death. They are Merle Joy, an infant son and Emma Shaw. The living are Laura Abby, Forest Grove, Oregon, Elizabeth Jones, Graettinger, Myrtle Jacobs, West Bend, Violet Krueg, West Bend, Pearl Nelson, Estherville, Ben, Ceylon, Minn., William, Ruthven, Ora, St. Paul, Minn., Harold, Polson, Mont. Besides the widow and children, he leaves 40 grandchildren, four brothers, John, George, William and Harry, two sisters, Grace Halstead and Mattie Smith and a host of friends who have always found him to be a willing friend with any task no matter how hard.
