Former Local Resident Dies; Rites Here
Mrs. V.H. (Hulda Rohde) Rutkowski, 75, of Bellevue, a former Estherville resident, died at 7:40 p.m. Saturday [August 2, 1969] at Bellevue. She had been failing for the past two months.

She was born Jan. 24, 1894, at Estherville, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman N. Rohde. She was educated in Estherville schools and attended the University of Wisconsin and Franklin College in Indiana.

She taught for several years and was later employed at the Presbyterian Hospital in Chicago where she did research work. She later did research for the government.

She was married in 1943 to V.G. Rutkowski at St. Louis, After their marriage they lived at Des Plaines, Ill., until 1965 when they retired and moved to Bellevue.

Surviving are her husband; two brothers, Arther A. Rohde and Herman Rohde of Estherville, and a sister, Berolina Rohde of Estherville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and an infant brother.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Rohde home at W. 519 N. 2nd Street. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery.

Friends may call at Reese-Henry Funeral Home after 3 p.m. today until 11 a.m. on Tuesday when the casket will be taken to the home. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 4, 1969)
