Mrs. C.W. Rost
Mrs. C. W. Rost died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ed Ketchum, Sunday evening of strangulation of intestines. She had been sick for six weeks prior to her death. Two weeks ago she was brought to Estherville from her home in Petersburg, Minnesota, and underwent an operation with the hope of relief. But her condition was too serious for medical assistance.The funeral was held at the Ed. Ketchum home yesterday afternoon at 8 o’clock and burial will be made in Oak Hill cemetery.
Mrs. Minnie [Wagner] Rost was born in Germany in 1854. She came to America with her parents in 1866, and settled in Wisconsin. In 1870 she was united in marriage to C.W. Rost and the newly wedded couple went at once to Jackson county, Minnesota, and farmed in the northern part of the county until 1906 when he purchased a farm near Petersburg, where the family have since resided. The following children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Rost: Mrs. Ed. Ketchum, Mrs. Filex Kriebs, Mrs. A.E. Ammon, O.C. Rost, Henry Rost, of this place; Mrs. Harry Shreeves, of Fairmont, Minnesota; Mrs. Louis Lamer, of Maple Hill, and Willie Rost, John Rost and Edward Rost of Petersburg, Minnesota.
Mrs. Rost was a fine lady. She enjoyed the good will of every one who knew her. The many friends of the family extend sympathy to the husband and children. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, May 24, 1911)

The Democrat was not apprised last week of the death of Mrs. C.W. Rost until after it was too late for the paper, hence the obituary this week.She died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. E.J. Ketchum, on the west side, Sunday morning, May 21st, of strangulation of the intestines, after an illness of several weeks. She was brought here from Petersburg, Minn., two weeks ago and underwent an operation. Deceased was born in Germany in 1854 and came to America in 1866. In 1870 she was united in marriage to C.W. Rost and located in Jackson county, Minn., where she had resided continuously until her death. Besides a husband the following children are left to mourn her death: Mrs. Harry Shreeves, Fairmont, Mrs. Louis Lamer, Maple Hill, will, John and Edward Rost, Petersburg, Mrs. E.J. Ketchum, Mrs. Art Ammon, Mrs. Filex Kreibs, C.C. Rost and Henry Rost of this place.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Ketchum home and the remains interred in Oak Hill Cemetery. (Estherville Democrat, Estherville, IA, May 31, 1911)
