Rites for D. Richards
Will Be Held Friday At Local Church – Passed Away in Calif.
The body of Dave L. Richards [Richard], 72, former Estherville resident, who passed away at Los Angeles, Calif. Sunday, is being returned to Estherville for services here. Funeral rites will be held Friday afternoon at 2:00 at the Mahlum and Anderson Funeral chapel and at 2:30 in the Presbyterian church with the Rev. Claude Fausnaugh in charge. Burial will be in the Oak Hill cemetery.

Mr. Richards was well known in this community having lived here for nearly thirty years. He was born in Fulton co., Penn., and came to Emmet county in 1910 settling on a farm near Estherville. Three years ago he retired from the farm and with his wife moved to Los Angeles, Calif., where they have since made their home.

Mr. Richards’ death followed a brief illness. He was taken to the hospital in Los Angeles Sunday morning and passed away there Sunday afternoon.

Besides his widow he is survived by two sons, George H. Richards and Albert Richards, both of Estherville, and a daughter, the former, Winona Richards.

Richard Rites Tomorrow at Local Church
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Mahlum and Anderson chapel and at 2:30 p.m. at the Presbyterian church for D.L. Richard, 72, who died Sunday in Los Angeles. The Rev. Claude Fausnaugh will be in charge of both services. Burial will be in Oakdale [Oak Hill] cemetery.

Mr. Richard was a former resident of Estherville and Emmet county. From 1910 until the time of his retirement several years ago, he farmed north of town. After retiring he moved to Estherville, and then in March, 1939, he went to California.

He is survived by his widow; two sons, George of Estherville and Albert of east of Wallingford; one daughter, Winona, of Los Angeles. Seven grandsons and two granddaughters also survive. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 4, 1941)
