Mrs. Arthur Pitcher Dies
Mrs. Arthur (Maude) Pitcher, 84, longtime resident of Estherville, died shortly after 2 o’clock this morning at Holy Family Hospital. Mrs. Pitcher had been hospitalized since April 22.Mrs. Pitcher was born Jan. 3, 1874, [per gravestone, 1877] the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James O. Craig. She was united in marriage to the late Arthur Pitcher on Nov. 4, 1907. Her husband was a prominent landowner and real estate man here, having started in the real estate and insurance business in 1900. From 1894 until 1900, he farmed three miles east of Estherville.
Survivors include one sister, Mrs. L.L. Bingham, and a niece Mrs. George Harnage Jr., both of Los Angeles. Mrs. Pitcher was preceded in death by her husband on Nov. 16, 1955. She was a member of First Presbyterian church.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 Saturday morning at the Sternborg Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Thomas G. Melton in charge. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery.
Pallbearers will be William Nielson, William Howard, John Gerdes of Dunnell, Ward Lane, F.E. Rosendahl and Francis Shadle.
The body will lie in state at the Sternborg Funeral Home from tomorrow noon until time of services. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 8, 1958)
