Mrs. John Stafford Dies at Age of 69
Mrs. John W. (Martha) Stafford died at 5:40 a.m. today of cancer at the Good Samaritan Home where she had lived for the past few months. She had been in failing health for almost a year. Mrs. Stafford was 69.

Born Nov. 30, 1886 in Indiana, she spent her girlhood and received her schooling there. Her maiden name was Martha McDaniel [Martha Rebecca McDaniel].

She was married Nov. 30, 1906 to John Walter Stafford and the couple farmed for seven years in Indiana before moving to a farm near Marshall, Minn., in 1915.

In the spring of 1940 they moved to Emmet county and farmed for several years in the Estherville area before moving to Estherville. Mr. Stafford died Dec. 5, 1947 and since his death Mrs. Stafford had continued to make her home here.

She was a charter member of the Estherville Calvary Baptist church.

Survivors include three sons, Lee of Green Valley, Minn.; Francis of Kirkland, Wash., and Leonard of Bakersfield, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. John (Ethel) Boerboom, Ghent, Minn., and Mrs. Alan (Lois) Henderson, Blythedale, Mo., and 13 grandchildren. Also, one sister, Mrs. Nellie Huntsinger of Muncie, Ind.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two sisters and two brothers.

Stafford Rites Saturday
Funeral services for Mrs. John W. (Martha) Stafford will be held at 10 a.m. at Sternborg’s Funeral Chapel and at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Warren Steward of Madison, Wisc., former Calvary Baptist pastor here, officiating. Burial will be in Eastside cemetery. Friends may call at Sternborg Funeral Home until time of services. Services Held For Mrs. John W. Stafford
Services were held for Mrs. John W. (Martha) Stafford, Saturday, Nov. 10, at 10:00 a.m. at Sternborg Funeral Home and 10:30 at Calvary Baptist church with the Rev. Warren Steward officiating. The Rev. Steward sang two songs, accompanied by Mrs. Steward.

Pallbearers were Floyd Johnson, Alfred Henderson, Art Miller, Simon Frey, Bernard Frey and Clifford Clark.
