Mrs. Carl Mickelson Dies at 61
Mrs. Carl Mickelson, 61, died at 8:45 a.m. today at her home after a long illness. Mrs. Mickelson became seriously ill last fall and it was found that she was suffering from cancer.She was born April 14, 1892 at Ronneborg, Denmark. Her maiden name was Catherine Johanna Pedersen. Mrs. Mickelson came to the United States when she was 19 and was married on Dec. 20, 1912 to Carl Mickelson at Buffalo Center.
The Mickelsons first moved to Bristol and then to Ardale and came to Estherville in 1918 where Mr. Mickelson operated a blacksmith shop until his retirement a few years ago.
Mrs. Mickelson was active in the Order of Eastern Star and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
She is survived by her husband, one son, W.B. Mickelson of Estherville; one daughter, Mrs. Dale (Evelyn) Farguson of Long Beach, Calif.; five brothers, George, Vigo and Pete Pedersen, all living in Florida; and two brothers in Denmark; three sisters, two living in Denmark and Mrs. Marian Larsen of Racine, Wisc., and five grandchildren.

Mickelson Rites Friday
Funeral services for Mrs. Carl Mickelson, 61, will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at the Sandin funeral home, the Rev. L.G. Hinderaker officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. tomorrow up to time of service. Mrs. Mickelson died yesterday at her home. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, February 3, 1954)
