William T. Nielsen, 78, died July 17, 1976 at Burlington, Vt. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Estherville with burial at the Swan lake Township Cemetery.

Masonic services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Fuhrman Funeral Home, Estherville. Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. Thursday and until Saturday morning.

Mr. Nielsen was born June 30, 1898 in Lyhne, Denmark. He attended business college and was employed in cooperative stores and served in the Danish Army. He came to the United States April 1, 1924 and worked on farms in Northwest Iowa 50 years except two years he was employed by the Borden Co., Little Valley, N.Y.

He was married to Ellen H. Jorgensen, Denmark, Jan 1, 1927. From 1949 until 1959 he served as a federal government corn and grain inspector. Mr. Nielsen was a member of the Emmet County Board of Supervisors from 1961 until his retirement in 1975. He also served 22 years on the board of directors of the Federal Land Bank, was an active member of the Farm Bureau, belonged to St. John's Lutheran Church, Ringsted; was a charter member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Estherville; and also belonged to North Star Lodge 447AF and AM, Royal Arch Masons, Esdraelon Commandery 52, Abu Bekr Temple.

After his retirement, he spent some time with his daughter, Signe Betsinger, Williston, Vt., and returned for short visits to his farm near Estherville.

Survivors include his wife, Ellen; one sister, Mrs. Gerda Pedersen, Nykbing Mors, Denmark; and his daughter, Signe Betsinger.Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 21, 1976)
