Services for Lowell T. Morris, 73, of Estherville will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Estherville with Pastor Mark Jolivette officiating. Military graveside services by the American Legion and VFW Posts will be at Swan Lake Township Cemetery near Gruver. he died Friday, March 7, 1986, at the Veteran's Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Friends may call after 3 p.m. Monday at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home at 103 North Ninth Street.

Morris was born August 18, 1912 in Osage, the son of Monroe and Ida (Solmon) Morris. He received his education in the Emmetsburg High School. On Sept 7, 1954, he was united in marriage to Myrtle Hanson on Sept 7, 1954 in Fairmont, Minn. He grew up in Emmetsburg and worked there until World War two when he served in the Army from 1942 until 1946. After his discharge from the service, Morris came to Estherville where he was employed first at Sears and Roebuck and then by the City of Estherville in the electrical department for 29 years. He was active in the Estherville American Legion Post 91 serving as commander and adjutant of the post and was instrumental in developing the Memorial Flag of Honor in Library Square for Memorial Day celebrations. He was also a member of VFW Post 3388 and North Star Lodge 447.

Survivors include his wife Myrtle Morris, Estherville; one brother Glenn Morris, Oxford, Ind.; two nieces and three nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.(Estherville Daily, Estherville, IA, News March 10, 1986)
