Mrs. Alice McAffee Dies at 86
Funeral services for Mrs. Willis (Alice Maud) McAffee, 86, who died at 12:24 a.m. today at Holy Family Hospital of complications due to advanced age will be Monday. Family services are at 1:30, public services at 2 p.m. in the First Presbyterian church, the Rev. William R. Noland officiating.Alice McAffee had been in failing health the past year. She was born Feb. 22, 1877 in Cambridge, Ill., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Gerard, and received her education in the Audubon county schools. She had moved with her family to Audubon at the age of two.
She was wed to Willis L. McAffee on Jan. 13, 1897 at Elxria [Exira]. Following her marriage she and her husband farmed in Audubon until 1901 when they moved to a farm near Wallingford. March 1, 1905 they moved to Estherville where she made her home ever since. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include one son, LeRoy of Cheyenne, Wyo.; five daughters, Mrs. Walter (Bessie) Spurling of Stratford, Mrs. Clinton (Dollie) Noll of Alexandria, Va., Mrs. Robert (Violet) Temples of Seattle, Wash., Mrs. Ralph (Gertrude) Krough of Maple Hill, Florence McAffee at home; 19 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband who died in 1939, one daughter and one son.
Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call at Reese Funeral Home after 9 a.m. Sunday until noon Monday when the casket will be taken to the church to lie in state until time of services. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 10, 1964)
