Leslie McAffee, Former Railroad Employee, Dies
Leslie A. [Alexander] McAffee, 64, died Thursday [November 22, 1945] at 12:30 a.m. at Holy Family hospital following an illness of several years.Leslie McAffee was born at Exira, Nov. 14, 1881, the son of Edwin McAffee and Helen York McAffee. He grew to manhood in and about Audubon county, coming to Estherville in 1900 at which time he was employed by the Rock Island railroad. He received his pension because of illness after 35 years of service. He was married in 1907 to Ella Sessler at Sioux Falls. His wife preceded him in death in 1934. Mr. McAffee was a member of the Order of Railway Conductors and the Masonic Order.
He is survived by a son, Herbert L. McAffee and a daughter, Mrs. Gordon J. Sheltren, both of Estherville.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Sternborg chapel and at 2:30 at the Church of Christ with the Rev. Fred D. Sawyer in charge. Interment will be in Oakhill cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 23, 1945)
