E.J. Knudson Dies: Funeral To Be Saturday
Edward J. [Joseph] Knudson, 66, died yesterday at 6 p.m. at 914 Fourth avenue south. Death was attributed to cancer. Mr. Knudson underwent surgery last May but failed to recuperate. He was injured two years ago in an automobile accident.He was born Nov. 17, 1880, [per WW I draft and cemetery records 1873] on a farm in Webster county. At the age of 7 he moved with his family to Jackson county where they lived for 25 years. Knudson was engaged in the mercantile business for 10 years in Luverne, Minn., and Swea City after which he spent the remainder of his life in Estherville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brother and two sisters. Survivors include a daughter, Ruth, and a son, Paul, both of Los Angeles, a brother, John, of Berndale, Minn., and several nieces and nephews.
Knudson was an active member of the Baptist church for 40 years.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:15 at the Sternborg funeral home and at 2:30 in the Baptist church, Rev. G.E. Forssell officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 18, 1946)
