Gertrude A. Knight Dies of Heart Attack
Miss Gertrude Alice Knight, 65, well known Estherville registered nurse, died Saturday [June 21, 1952] night at 9:30 p.m. at the Holy Family hospital of a heart ailment. She suffered a sudden attack at the home of a neighbor Saturday evening and was taken to the hospital and died shortly after her arrival there.

Miss Knight was born in Rockford, Ia., at the home of her grandparents on May 24, 1887. She lived in Estherville most of her life and graduated from the public schools here. She lived with her father and kept house for him. She took her nurses training at the Eitel hospital school of nursing in Minneapolis. A member of the Eastern Star and the Presbyterian church she has been active in community work all her life.

She is survived by her father, Ellsworth W. Knight, one brother, Robert S. and three sisters, Genevieve Bixler of Des Moines, Margaret Landis of Charleston, Ill. and Agnes Siebert of Summit, N.J.

Services will be held Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at the Sandin funeral home with the Rev. Thomas Melton officiating. Burial will be in the Oakhill cemetery. Friends may call up until 4 p.m. Tuesday when the casket will be closed and remain closed throughout the services. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 23, 1952)
