Mrs. O. Hanson Dies Following Brief Illness
Mrs. O.M. Hanson, 77, died at her home on west Central avenue at 2:30 Friday [March 22, 1946] afternoon following a stroke. She had been ill for a week.

Martha Christina Christopherson was born April 15, 1868, [per cemetery records 1869] at Stavanger, Norway. She came to the United States, to Forest City, at the age of 21. When she was 23 she married Ole M. Hanson at Forest City.

She and Mr. Hanson spent their married life in Iowa and Minnesota and for the past 20 years had lived in the Estherville community.

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Ben Sampson, Estherville; Mrs. Beatta Francis, Minneapolis; Mrs. Christina Rice, Chicago, and Mrs. Louella Benson, Oakland, Calif.; three sons, Oscar, Mount Vernon, Wash., Clarence, Reading, Minn., and Olaf, Worthington, Minn.; and one brother, S.M. Christopherson, Bemidji, Minn.; 16 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Her husband preceded her in death in December, 1942.

Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 1:30 at the Mahlum and Sandin chapel and at 2 o’clock at the Estherville Lutheran church. Rev. C.M. Hanson will officiate and burial will be in Oakhill cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 23, 1946)
