Ole Hanson Is Dead
Dies at Home Here Early Monday Morning; Funeral Services Thursday
Ole M. Hanson died early Monday [December 14, 1942] morning at his home in Estherville following a long illness. He had been confined to his bed for the last six weeks and had been in poor health for more than six months.Mr. Hanson was born April 16, 1864 in Norway and came to the United States with his parents when he was nine years old. His family settled near Forest City where they farmed and where he grew up. He received his education in the Forest City public schools. He married Martha Christoferson who was born in Stavanger, Norway.
In 1924 he and his wife moved to Emmet county and operated a farm south of Estherville. He retired seven years ago and moved into the city of Estherville where he lived until the time of his death.
Surviving are his widow; four daughters, Mrs. Ben Sampson, of Petersburg, Minn., Mrs. V.C. Francis of Minneapolis, Mrs. Christina Arentz of Chicago and Mrs. Jess Benson of Oakland, Calif.; and three sons, Oscar Hanson in California, Clarence Hanson who is in the army in Mississippi and Olaf Hanson of Bigelow, Minn. He is also survived by three sisters and two brothers who live in and near Forest City and by 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be this Thursday afternoon at 1:30 at the Mahlum and Anderson chapel and at 2 p.m. at the Estherville Lutheran church with the Rev. L.A. Mathre officiating.
