Cliff Halleck Dies in Hospital at Des Moines
Cliff Halleck died at 11 a.m. yesterday [per cemetery records, October 1, 1945] at the Methodist hospital at Des Moines from a chronic heart ailment.

Mr. Halleck was born Aug. 7, 1882, in Buchanan county. He graduated from high school in Darlington, Wis., and later married Lena Johnson. He is a retired Rock Island locomotive engineer, and belonged to the Brotherhood of Local Engineers.

Mr. Halleck is survived by his widow and three daughters, Mrs. Arthur Fogelsong (Vernice) of Des Moines, Mrs. Dee Brown (Lucilla) of Oelwein and Beverly at home, and one son Robert at home. One brother and one sister all survive. They are Mrs. A.V. Gray of Settle, Wash., and A.A. Halleck of Estherville.

Services will be tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. at the Methodist church with Rev. C.J. Semans in charge. Burial will be at Oak Hill cemetery with Tone Katley, Adolph Peterson, Ed Cole, Mike Kelly, Charles Dawson and Ray S. Bryan as pallbearers.

The body will lie in state at the Sternborg funeral home until time for services at the church. The casket will not be opened at the church. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 3, 1945) (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, October 4, 1945)
