Estherville – Services for Douglas Hall, 63, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, at the United Methodist Church, Estherville, with Pastor Tom Balm officiating. Burial will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Estherville. He died Aug. 25, 1984 at Veterans Hospital in Des Moines.Henry and Olson Funeral Home, Estherville, is in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation.
Hall was born Oct. 11, 1920, in Cherokee, the son of Dr. Clarence H. and Luva L. (Payne) Hall. He received his education at Cherokee High School and attended Iowa State University. On Jan. 8, 1943 he married Betty M. Yount in Los Angeles, Calif. The couple moved to Estherville in 1946 where Hall started Hall’s Paint and Wallpaper, which he owned and operated for many years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, VFW and American Legion Posts. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army.
Hall is survived by his wife, Betty, two sons, James A. Hall, Estherville, and Thomas M. Hall, Owatonna, Minn.; one daughter, Mrs. Tracy (Katherine) Peterson, Cherokee; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 27, 1984)
