Estherville – Services for Mrs. Arnt R. (Irene) Espeset, Sr., 89, will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Estherville Lutheran Church with interment in Oak Hill Cemetery. Pastor Norman Omodt will officiate. She died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 1985 at the home of her daughter in Forest City.

Friends may call at the Henry and Olson Funeral Home in Estherville after 3 p.m. Thursday.

Irene A. [Amelia] Grodland was born Aug. 30, 1896 at Cylinder and was the daughter of Ole B. and Marie (Johnson) Grodland. She moved with her parents to the Ingham Lake area at the age of 2 and attended Emmet County schools. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. On Sept. 12, 1917 she was united in marriage with Arnt R. Espeset, Sr. at Estherville. She lived all her married life in the Estherville area. After her husband’s death she moved to Forest City in 1967 where she lived until her death. She was a member of the Estherville Lutheran Church, ELCW, Ruth Circle, was on the building committee when the Estherville Lutheran Church was built.

Survivors include one son Arnt Espeset, Estherville; two daughters: Mrs. Loyd (Vivian) Handeland, Forest City and Mrs. Audrey Loveland, Des Moines; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1965; one grandson; five brothers and two sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 24, 1985)
